Meet The Owner
Background
- Dee is originally from St Maarten and completed her Public Accounting studies with honors at Pace University in New York in 2000. She has over 20 years experience working in both public and internal auditing fields, with companies such as BDO Seidman, Deloitte & Touche and Revlon Cosmetics.
AIAP's Conception and Mission
- Upon returning to St. Maarten in 2012, Dee began the process of reacclimating herself for a couple years, gaining knowledge of the local tax laws and compliance matters while working for 2 local companies. As part of that experience Dee quickly realized that structure was seriously lacking in many companies and established AIAP Services BV in St. Maarten in 2015. Her mission was simple: Help to re-shape St. Maarten businesses to achieve greater structure and compliance through fostering and requiring more professional attitudes and work ethics. Choosing to no longer hear and/or accept, 'Oh, that's St. Maarten', when someone explains why a company's work product is less than minimum standard, why it is disorganized without supporting documents, and even why a scheduled meeting cannot start on time.
What the Future Looks Like
This section is dedicated to some potential areas of improvement regarding some of the challenges and hurdles that I have come across both from the point of view as a business owner on St. Maarten and as a guide helping client's figure out how to navigate and survive.
- Change in process to update basic business information - such as an address change
- Tiered Business License and Fees Structure Adopted
- Technology embraced even further than it is now (love the progress that I have seen thus far)
